Class # 4624 TX A/C LawRules - Energy/Mechanical Codes

 

Contractors are required to have (2) hours of Texas Law and Rules

 

This class covers:

Section 1302 of the State Occupations Code (A/C Contractor Law 

Chapter 75 Air Conditioning Contractor AdministrativeRules

 

 

 The remaining six hours covers the 2009 Versions of:

  • International Mechanical Code
  • International Fuel Gas Code
  • International Energy Conservation code
  • International Residential Code Chapters 12 - 24

 

The 2009 codes as shown above will make many changes to how mechanical systems will have to be installed in commercial and residential structures.

By way of example, there will be requirements for:

  1. Blower door testing for new structures
  2. Duct tightness tests for  duct systems in new residential structures
  3. Make up air for residential range hoods
  4. Programmable thermostats in residential structures
  5. Lockable refrigerant caps
  6. Load calculations utilizing both ACCA Manual S and Manual J - (Mandatory requirement)
  7. Increased levels of insulation within structures
  8. Lower Solar Heat Gain Coefficients for windows
  9. Increased levels of duct insulation
